The gold rush began in the 1850's when gold was first discovered in Australia. Many emigrants from middle class came from all over the world in hope to strike rich in Australia. However the goldfields were not such a equal place. Racism, discrimination, cruelty, unjust governing and unhappy miners saw the goldfields in strife.
